Explore Multiple UV Unwrapping Options for Games and Film
An intermediate level of understanding with 3d modeling
It isn’t mandatory to own all the softwares to compare, but this course covers the Roadkill, Unfold3D, 3D Coat, and the Headus UV Unwrapping Softwares.
In this course, Stephen Wells is going to examine four of the more popular stand alone UV unwrappers (Roadkill, Unfold 3D, 3D Coat and Headus UV Layout) and run them through their paces. Although several of the programs can do more than unwrap UVs for meshes, we will only be focusing on the basic unwrapping. To be a fair comparison, we’ll unwrap the same three models in each individual program to see how easy or difficult each program is. We’ll unwrap both organic and hard surface models for comparison using the basic UV unwrapping capabilities of each program. As we work, we’ll ultimately be able to see the strengths and faults of each program and see which of the four programs is fastest at unwrapping a full 3D character model.
